Meet the Family and Staff
Tom and Ann Bird purchased the farm in 1995 on a dream. After living in Colorado for more than 30 years they took a leap of faith and bought the 110 acres outside of Granville, OH.
Tom continues to work as a relief Vetrinarian off the farm. However, his main job is to plan, schedule, and order the tens of thousands of seeds we use each year. He keeps us all straight on exactly what day each seed needs to be in the soil in order to have the perfect produce ready for your CSA boxes in the summer!
Ann keeps the farm running! After being a city-girl born and raised she took the country like a horse to water! Now a certified "farmer's wife" she manages all of the accounts, payroll, chickens, packs the CSA bags, answers emails, and keeps us all in line. The farm truly would not run without her!
When they are not on the farm they are busy with their 10 granddaughters and 4 grown children. The two are always up for a weekend get-away to Amish country for swiss cheese or Northern Ohio for a winery tour!
Lee and Lindsey Bird are the main producers for Bird's Haven Farms. The two met while Lee was studying Agricultural Buisness Management at The Ohio State University and Lindsey was studying nursing at Capital University. After they were married in 2005 they returned to the farm and Lee began managing the day-to-day operation. Lindsey took a nursing position at Licking Memorial Hospital and the two quickly expanded their family. You can find their four daughters Olivia (6), Ella (5), Sophia (3), and Claire (1) running around and on daily adventures in the fields and taking turns going to the Westerville Farmers Market.
When not farming Lee is off chasing the next "best truck ever" and furthering his collection of antiques with only a "little" surface rust. Lindsey is busy managing dance parties, princess teas, and sibling rivarly but is always on the hunt for a great deal at garage sales! No one else can get a deal quite like Lindsey!
Bryn and her husband Brian moved to Granville in 2011 after living in Virginia while Brian fulfilled his committment to the U.S. Navy. Bryn continues her work in Washington, DC with Rural Coalition and advocating on behalf of socially disadvantaged farmers around the country through federal policy reform. After returning to the farm, the two took on much of the communication and outreach for the farm.
If you have a CSA subscription with Bird's Haven Farms then you have quickly become aquainted with Bryn as she manages the membership and weekly newsletters.
While Brian is from the suburbs of Boston he has easily taken to country life and you will see him each Saturday at the Granville Farmers Market! This season you will see the family busy with their new daughter, Emlyn! Born on December 6th she is sure to become a free-range farmgirl like her Bird cousins.
